Steel Welder
We are looking for the perfect candidate to expand our Steel Welding team!
Applicants should be:
- Able to work well individually or in a team environment.

Overview
Steel Welders are responsible for assembling pieces of steel metal, specializing with Mig and Tig welding techniques with knowledge of various welding tools and machines. Daily, a steel welder is responsible for set-up, lay-out, and tack-up of various precision frame weldments and brackets. Ability to tack-up structures to tight tolerance. Ability to weld out precision frames to exact tolerances. Read complicated prints.

Equipment/Machinery Used
4.5 inch and 7 inch angle grinder, manual vertical band saw, pedestal grinder, and various clamps and fixtures; basic manual milling machine, forklift, tape measure, hand tools. Other equipment used: Oxy/Acetylene Torch and Plasma Torch.
Essential Functions
Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:
- Mig weld milled steel and stainless steel.
- Square up and weld various shapes of components.
- Weld both vertical and horizontal planes.
- Good understanding of set up techniques.
- Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
- Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
- Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
- Operate a forklift safely.
Education and Experience:
High School or equivalent diploma w/ equivalent combination of education and experience required. A Weld Test is required as part of the hiring process, personal gear is required.

1. Procedure –
Tack up
1st quarter (90 days)
1.1. Learn to read prints and special instructions for a UL142 inner and outer.
1.2. Learn how to clock in and out of jobs.
1.3. Learn to work well as a team.
1.4. Learn how to tell the difference between a sloped and structural tank.
1.5. Learn the basic steps to building a UL142 tank.
1.6. By the end of the first quarter employee should be able to build a UL142 tank by themselves with little to no help and have good history of clocking in and out on jobs.
1.1. Learn to read prints and special instructions for a UL142 inner and outer.
1.2. Learn how to clock in and out of jobs.
1.3. Learn to work well as a team.
1.4. Learn how to tell the difference between a sloped and structural tank.
1.5. Learn the basic steps to building a UL142 tank.
1.6. By the end of the first quarter employee should be able to build a UL142 tank by themselves with little to no help and have good history of clocking in and out on jobs.
2nd quarter (90 days)
1.7. Learn to read prints and special instructions for a 2085 tank.
1.8. Learn the basic steps to building a 2085.
1.9. By the end of the second quarter the employee should be able to build a 2085 by themselves with little to no help.
3rd quarter (90 days)
1.10. Learn to drive forklift and set up jobs on the tack up table safely and efficiently
1.11. At this stage you should be able to see the next step and be one with the team on the tack up table.
4th quarter (90 days)
1.12. All above steps and procedures should be second nature and become easier.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: From $18.00- 23.00 per hour based on experience
Schedule:
- 1st shift/ 2nd shift
- 2 plant locations
- 10hr shifts
- Willing to meet overtime demands.
Please note: All employees must also be able to work in a warehouse setting that includes exposure to noise, all weather conditions, small levels of airborne particles and occasionally lift more than 50-75lbs. Safety training and equipment are provided by MPP in accordance with applicable law, industry standards, and company policy.
