Use hand-welding and flame cutting equipment, such as gas welding, brazing, stick. Sand blast parts for welding and brazing operations. Build fixtures to hold parts for welding or brazing operations for fabricated sheet metal or copper parts. Regulate current and voltage for proper fusion of metals and select electrode type and size. Obtain maximum brazing strength and avoid distortion. These duties and responsibilities are not exhaustive and will be supplemented as necessary.
Welder positions start at $18.00 to $20.00/hour (please note: the 2nd shift differential is $1.00/hour; 3rd shift differential is $1.25/hour).
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies.
- Maintain proper housekeeping.
- Assure that work meets expected quality standards. Understand CTQs.
- Perform daily inspection of all the equipment and tools prior to use.
- Provide guidance, training or mentoring for other team members as needed.
- Perform other general duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Technically qualified to perform all types of Arc Welding: MIG, TIG, Submerge ARC and Stick.
- Familiar with various electrodes and their application.
- Knowledge of the inert gases used in welding and selects the best suited process for the application.
- Understand and properly apply single fillet, double fillet, square groove, V groove and U groove welds.
- Ability to do all position welding on alloys presented.
- Make fixtures; familiar with most machinery and hand tools.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work overtime.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment, for example safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
- Willingness to work in a tobacco-free environment.
- Ability to read blue prints.
- Ability to use measurement devices.
- Mechanical Skills – ability to build fixtures.
- Ability to read decimal and fractional measurement.
- Knowledge of welding equipment.
- Certified in TIG & MIG.
- Ability to operate forklift.
- Lift up to 35lbs with or without reasonable accommodation (units may weigh up to 50 lbs).
