Sprinkler Construction Technician – Experienced 262 views

The function of the Sprinkler System Construction Technician Level 2 is to install, repair, maintain and renovate all types fire protection systems under the direction of the Sprinkler System Construction Technician Level 3, Superintendent, and AFPS management. Other functions include reading construction plans, field coordination, planning, and expediting the installation of fire sprinkler systems and communication of job status to key AFPS staff.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Install, repair, maintain and renovate all types of fire protection systems
  • Load and handle equipment as needed
  • Inspect equipment
  • Read and understand construction plans
  • Understand and use tools and equipment common to the installation of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Coordinate with monitoring companies, fire departments and other authorities to avoid false alarms and unreported true alarms
  • Prepare reports
  • Requisition materials and equipment anticipating future needs
  • Have working knowledge of Standards of the National Fire Protection Association, State and Local codes as it pertains to the installation of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Complete follow-up documentation
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with not more than 35% supervision
  • All other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to be insured on company automobile insurance
  • Acceptable background check and drug screen
  • 1 year in related fire protection industry OR 3 years’ experience in similar industry

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to understand basic flow test information and hydraulic calculation data, basic math, fire sprinkler spacing requirements and material takeoffs
  • Intermediate knowledge of fire and building codes, OSHA and other regulations pertaining to the job
  • Intermediate knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and alarm panels
  • Ability to direct job flow from customer contact to completion.
  • Intermediate knowledge of head and hanger spacing hazard classification and obstructions
  • Intermediate knowledge of different types of systems such as wet, dry, and antifreeze systems
  • Capable of installing underground
  • Ability to interact with customers in a professional manner
  • The ability to communicate in English
